Leawo Music Recorder is mainly intended to record streaming audio. Moreover, it can also capture sound from a microphone, line-in input or directly from your computer´s card. The application is quite easy to use even by novices. Most of the times, you will only need to press the Record button to start capturing sound.
Good news is that you can schedule recordings to take place at a given time and with a certain duration, which comes in quite handy if you usually record radio programs. Another advantage of the application is silence detection, which means it skips no-sound periods, thus saving a lot of storage space. Likewise, it also supports automatic splitting of large files.
When you are recording a song, the tool tries to identify it automatically and download the needed information. However, since it is not always successful, it is good to know that you can edit tags manually as well. The application also has a very basic built-in audio player, which is enough to allow searching for specific songs, creating playlists and previewing their contents.
The tool produces good-quality recordings independently of the source. Moreover, it supports exporting in two widely used formats: MP3 and WAV. The output quality is also adjustable, which lets you manage the resulting file size according to your needs.
As to the downsides, the tool installs its own audio driver, which may affect system sound volume. Besides, there may be some difficulties to install this driver on specific versions of your operating system. Finally, I also missed the possibility of using hotkeys to manage records.
All in all, Leawo Music Recorder does exactly what it is supposed to do. Since it is shareware, there is nothing to lose if you test its trial version, with only some limitations regarding the duration of the recordings.
